Why choose a registered BAS agent

Registered BAS Agent Logo

Engaging a bookkeeper to assist you in your business can be a scary thing…

You are basically letting a stranger have details of your business, bank details and lots of other personal information about you.

Wow – you wouldn’t want this information to go to anyone, its very sensitive to you. That’s why when you do take this step, you need to make sure that you can trust the professional you choose.

That’s why you should only go with an ATO Registered BAS Agent.

You can tell if a bookkeeper is registered or not as we all use a Tax Practitioners Board logo, along with our registered number.

What does this mean to your business?

What guarantee does this give you?

Well, all Registered BAS Agents must comply with the following guidelines, and these standards are re checked to ensure the agent complies every 2 years:

  • Must be a fit, independent, honest and proper person.

  • Must have their individual tax responsibilities up to date.

  • Maintain their industry knowledge and ensure they keep up to date with new legislation. Education must be a minimum of 45 hours over 3 years.

  • A minimum of Certificate IV in Bookkeeping is required

  • Must hold Professional Indemnity Insurance

  • Must follow a specific code of conduct as set by the Tax Practitioners Board.

And, a great advantage of engaging a registered agent is that we all have an automatic extension on all BAS lodgement dates.
